Parents and the School
Research shows that parent involvement can improve students' behaviour, attendance, and achievement. At GSIS, we regard education as being a partnership between the school and the parents and, as a consequence, we welcome parent involvement in their child’s education. This can take many forms, such as outlined on this page.
These are but a few suggestions of course. If you are interested in any of the above, please contact your child’s teacher; we look forward to your involvement.
STEAM Materials
· Donations to the school, in the form of books or resources that have become superfluous to needs, will always be welcome.
· Students may be requested to bring old containers, egg cartons, cereal boxes, old bottles etc for use in Art and Craft, or to support infant learning. Such material are useful to us.

Donations in time or kind
· Firstly, of course, we encourage all parents to participate in their child’s schooling by attending school functions and Parent/Teacher Conferences.
· Educational outings are an integral part of each child’s learning and classes will go out into the community at least once a term. Parents are welcome to assist teachers in supervising and participating in such trips.
· Reading is such an important component of a child’s development that we hope that parents take an active interest by listening to their child’s reading at home. Parents are also welcome to join their child’s class and share the reading of stories with their children.
· Where relevant, we will invite parents with different jobs into the school to talk about what they do. This might be particularly successful with our senior scholars who would be considering their future careers.
